Algebra II Syllabus
Welcome to Algebra II.
DUE DATES: USE THE GOOGLE CALENDAR IN MOODLE.
We will be using Moodle as our Course Management System. There you will be able to access the syllabus for the course and download lectures to your laptop, use the calender to keep track of upcoming events.
Please visit Moodle and review the syllabus for the course. Please have all necessary materials ready for the first day of school.
Comment in the weblog outlining the expectations for the course. What are some of the topics we are studying this year? How will Moodle benefit you throughout the course?
Next download Lesson 1.1 to your laptop and post a comment about the lesson. Does this seem familiar?

Reading over the syllabus I saw that we will be covering 12 topics, some which are functions, fractions & very little statistics. Those are just three of the short lessons that Mrs. Dipaulo will be helping us expand our knowledge on.
If the class has access to moodle daily, you should see a change in your organization skills, moodle for one keeps me very organized and helps me focus on what assignments I need to work on and there deadlines.
Hope everyone enjoys Honors math, I'm looking forward to it myself!

When I looked up the lesson 1.1 I immediately saw symbols that I had no clue what they meant, but just taking a glance around i already know what some of them mean.
example --
R: Real Numbers
Q: Rational Numbers
Z: Integers
W: Whole Numbers
N: Natural Numbers
Just taking a few seconds to look over the lesson I already know more than i did pulling up the online text book.

My comment is kind of weird and not really on the topic of math, but I saw in the syllabus that Mrs. Dipaulo was a dentist before she became a teacher. I know a couple teachers who were dentists before they decided to be teachers, and I think it’s super odd that all these teachers started out wanting to be dentists and achieved that goal and then decided to become teachers. Is it something about dentistry that is appealing to teaching? I don’t really know. It’s just a really really weird coincidence I guess.
I'm looking foward to seeing you all in math class this year!

After reading the syllabus this year seems like it's going to be a fun year of math. Some of the chapter names I've never heard of, but I think once we build on what we already know it'll be easy.
Again, after skimming through lesson 1.1 it all seems confusing. I'm not one of those people who can teach themselves, so having Mrs. Dipaulo explain everything will make it all more clear.
After reading the syllabus I came to a conclusion that alot of the math we use in algebra one and pre algebra builds up to this. I also concluded that this is much more challenging, the year has not even started and i fell more challenged then ever. I also like the idea that we can retake chapter tests if we fail that will help alot.
After reading the syllabus i realized that this year is going to be a lot more challenging. There will be a lot of new concepts that we will be learning to solve mathematical equations. Also I found it interesting to read that she was a dental tech before becoming a teacher.
Again after reading lesson 1.1 I saw that there were going to be some confusing chapters in the book. But Miss DiPaulo is good at explaining things so it shouldn't take long to get the hang of it.
After reviewing the course's syllabus, I noticed that we will be covering both old and new topics. I saw that in chapters 1-6 we will be discussing concepts that we may have learned in Algebra I, but we will be going into more detail to have a more in-depth and thorough understanding of the concepts.
By the way, do we get free dental exams?

Richard ... about the free dental exams. Ummmm not so much.
i always like reading the syllabus every year, it means that school is starting soon and i get to see all of you for one last year. so sad
i could not find lesson 1.1, if someone could help me point it out that would be great
thanks
After reading the syllabus I realized that this course will be a bit of a challenge. From the program overview I noticed that we'll be going over a lot of things I've all ready covered but i assume the class will each a more advanced version. The online activities are a bit different but i guess they'll keep math entertaining!!!
After checking out Lesson 1.1 I saw that I've seen some of the examples and equations before and I remember how to do some and others im completely lost too.

After reading the syllabus some of the chapter names look familiar and some don't at all. I also see that we'll be using a graphing calculator everyday.
In Lesson 1.1 I recognize some of the vocabulary and some of it I don't. For the most part it looks the same though.

After reading the syllabus I learned that in class assessments, practice tests, and technology projects are worth most of our grade. i also learned that this year is going to be much harder than last year. i also learned the Mrs. Dipaulo was a dentist, so I might be afraid of her cause i am scared of the dentist. just joking.

After reading lesson 1.1 i thought it was really easy. Rational numbers can be decimals, or fractions. Integers are negative numbers. Whole numbers are 0. Natural numbers are whole number greater than 0.
I'm not very good with reading the book and getting everything it says, in fact, I really don't understand anything it says. After reading it, I do have an idea of what we will be learning about, and I don't think it will be that hard once i get it.
When i finished reading the syllabus i saw that this year we were going to learn how to use our computers more with our everyday math abilities. i also saw that we are making a imovie that has to due with our shop. practice tests are a major art of our grade as long with our technological projects. I believe that if i do not understand anything within the syllabus is to go to the dipaulotista. my fashionista muhaha. this is a year were i can definitely push myself. reading the syllabus was a little scary but i can trust my fashionista. i hear very good words about this fabulousl math teacher.
After reading Lesson 1.1 i remember some vocabulary that we had used from previous algebra courses. Rational and irrirational numbers will be a pain but im sure it would whip my head in gear when it looks familiar after we do a couple practice problems. however i was slightly confused from the subset numbers. i will look over the lesson to get my brain juices working after a long summer. so i can understand the lesson. i remember notations very well.
i learned that we will be reviewing about 12 chapters. And i am very excited to be in this honors class and willing to do my best in everthing i can
after reading the syllabus i learned that in this next year we will be covering a lot of different topics like different functions, fraction, etc. i think it will be alot more help haveing the calender on moodle so we really have no reason to not know our assignments when we are absent or when we miss the class
when i looked at lesson 1.1 the symbols made my brain hurt i had no clue what they were or when they were supposed to be used
At first it was completely easy, I remembered pretty much everything, but some were either new, or I just couldn't find it in my memory.
Reading through the syllabus, it seemed we will be using Moodle a lot more, along with our laptops. It explained what will be needed and the grading procedure.
i wonder why we had our laptop and reading your syllabus explain a lot. it seem we will need our laptop more than just playing game and watching True Blood. Man!
This is Garland. I wonder why we got our laptop early. I thought is was us smart people to play games and watching True Blood. But when read your syllabus, I realize I was wrong. it not for gaming and True Blood. It for work and lot of it. I'm not happy at all.
by reading through the syllabus i understand that well be using our laptops and electronic devices more often. A lot of schools don't make good use of technology these even though they should because students should learn to use technology in the work place because in the future all we will use is technology. i also think its good that students can work together as a team because when we get jobs in the future, most workplaces will involve teams to complete a task or assignment. overall im looking forward to the school year. i also love how im like the last kid to comment.

After reading your syllabus I noticed that we would be using our computers a lot more then we are used to in math. Also with the fact that we have to use things on the computer that I don't really know how to use like garage band. This will definitely be an interesting math year.
For lesson 1.1 I recognized most of what we we were doing and it kinda seemed like it was a common sense type of thing also.
Chad- After reading over the sylabus i saw the supplies that i am going to need to have for the year. I also saw what kind of materials that we are going to be learning thi year too. I also learned about the grading policy for cat pickering too.
